These delicious dumplings are perfect for intermediate to advanced cooks looking for a great treat.

These are best served warm from the oven.





Preheat oven to 425°F

Prepare Dough

  1. Sift the dough's dry ingredients together.

  2. Cut in the shortening.

  3. Gradually add the milk while stirring the mixture.
    Add a little more flour, if needed to make a soft dough.

  4. Roll the dough on a floured surface, to make an 18" x 12" rectangle.

Prepare and Apply Filling

  1. Combine the apples, cranberries, ginger and walnuts, then spread evenly over the dough.

  2. Roll this up like a jelly roll, lengthwise.

  3. Cut the roll into 18 one-inch thick pieces.

  4. Place the pieces cut side up in a 13" by 9" baking pan.
    Two-inch high sides are recommended.

Create and Spread Syrup

  1. Combine the syrup's dry ingredients and add to water in a sauce pan.
    Boil for 5 minutes.

  2. Remove from heat and stir in the butter.

  3. Pour the hot syrup over the rolls and then bake at 425°F for 40 minutes.
